Kidney and Bladder weakness result

The ,kidneys filter this acid from the

second street, whdre they entered an
other local train that finally deposited
them at the door of the Gothamite's
apartment at Broadway and Seventy

and a most leisurely dinner. Half-way
through the dessert, the Briten looked
at his host.
"I've been wondering why we took
three'trains to get here?"
"Why? We saved four minutes!"'
The visitor pondered. "I say," hN

TO REPAIR FAMOUS CHURCH
Historic Building at Thaxted, Essn
Has Unique Featuree-One of
England's Show Buildings.
London.-Thaxted church in Essex
an old building famous among anti
quarians, but little known to tourists,
is to be restored, or, rather, properlY
repaired.
The church is in a small town,
and yet it is one of the most beautiful
buildings of its kind in England. It Is
little damaged, the "restorer" whose
work was like a destroying blight in
the middle of the nineteenth century
having spared it except in a few de
tails. Wind and weather, however,
are at length making their presence
felt, both insid9 and out, to an alarm
ing extent.
The town of Thaxted has dwindled
since the days when its inhabitants
could support so large and magnificent
a church, and so it Is to the outside

ing; $25,000 is asked.
Little is known of the history o0
the church. The general style of Iti
architecture is later perpendicular
but the cumns of the nave, wit!
their arches, belong to an earlier date
The south aisle and transept wer(
built in the middle of the fifteentl
century, and the chancel probably ii
the period of Thaxted's prosperity
some time after the "Black Death.
The clerestory belongs to the end 01
the fifteenth century.
The church possesses some beau
tiful carving, both inside and out
and many pieces of exquisite oH
stained glass. A celature at the eas
end of the Lady Chapel is unique, ai
are two pre-Reformation crucifixes
one over the east end of the chance'
roof and -the other over the norti
porch.
It is not intended to "restore" thi
church or to destroy the atmosphere o
the middle ages which it retains, bu1
there are very few buildings that
offer so attractive a field for sympa
thetic repair, and it is in this direc
tion only that the money subscribe'
will be- spent, it is stated.
