London.-Thaxted church in Essex an old building famous among anti quarians, but little known to tourists, is to be restored, or, rather, properlY repaired. The church is in a small town, and yet it is one of the most beautiful buildings of its kind in England. It Is little damaged, the "restorer" whose work was like a destroying blight in the middle of the nineteenth century having spared it except in a few de tails. Wind and weather, however, are at length making their presence felt, both insid9 and out, to an alarm ing extent.
