A quan tity of beer was oestroyed. Curtis Cullom'of Batesburg, spent last Wednesday with friends in Pickens. Messrs. Claude keasler and Ed-Earle left last Friday morn ing for Lisbon. Fla. The many friends of T. It, Allen are glad to see him out again after a recent attack of grip. The patrons of Hagood school are requested to meet at. the school house Friday, November 7th, at 2 o'clock. The trustees expect every patron to be pres ent. Business of importance will be discussed. A large number of Pickens people attended the fair at lEas ley last week. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Craig, of Florida, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Craig last Week. Mr. Craig is a native of this county, but has for several years made his home in Florida. He and his wife are on an extended visit to friends and relatives in this county. The Euclid Male Quartet, the first nuniber of the' lyceum 1 courae; will appear at the'school 1 auditorium tonight (Wednes day.) Those who bought sea pon tickets are requested to call on J. E. Boggs, Jr., at the Pick ens Drug Co., and get same. . - A large crowvd attended the song service at the Baptist church last Sunday afternoon. Profs. Mc. D. Bolding, R. H. Crane, R. C. Robinson, P. C. Cartee, S. P. Freeman and Ar thur Stokes were all present and led the singing. Messrs. Ca'rtee, and Christopher and Thomas with bass and cornet, greatly aided the singing. J. S. Chris topher presided. . - / Ada Bell, the eighteen-months s old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Craig, died at their home here on the 18th Inst., after a short illness. The body was last to rest the day following in the Pickens cemetery, the ser vices being conducted by Rey. J. M. Stewart. -The bereaved * parents have the sympathy of * the entire community. From all over the county *comes the report that Pickens conihas the best corn crop in her history. Last week Mr. W. P. Baker brought us an ear of corn with six other ears grow ing out of it. This week Roark Powell of Pickens route 8 brings us an ear with eleven other ears| -growing out of it, making twelve ears in all. All th e grains awe fully matured. Personal Misses Knight and McDonald gave a delightful "tacky party" last Friday evening at the home o. Mrs. W. -A. Stoll. A large nuniber of young people'were present to en joy the occasion. Delicious refreshments were served. Pickens County Fair at Easley The Pickens County Agricul tural and Mechanical Fair was held in Easley on Thursday and Friday of last week, and to say that it was a very great success puts it mildly. Had it not been for the rain, on the last day there is no telling how many people would have attended. As it was In spite of the incle ment weather, the crowd was very large, and everything pass ed in splendid style. The hor ses, cattle, hogs and chickens were very fine. The agricul tural display was first class, and the fancy work by the women, was perhaps unsurpassed by any previous fair in the county. The fair certainly ought to stimulate our people to greater efforts along all lines of indus try. Why not begin now and plan for a big fair next year? Let it be the Piedmont fair and let Pickens, ~Oconee, Anderson and Greenville 'counties come together; appoint a central place to hold the fair and let all our people take part. It certainly would be a great thing for our 3ection of the state. Ask for coupons at our store. Protracted Meet ings at Easley *The protractednieeting at the First Baptist church, where Dr. Vines is preaching with such power is attracting large crowds. Services every morning at 10:80 and every night a* 7:30. The meeting at Glenwood Is attended by large congregations and much interest is being man ifested. Evangelist Yarboro of the M. E. church is a power in a meeting. Sormons' every af ternoon at 3:30 and night at 7:15. Next Sunday Mr. Yarboro will hold three services-11 a. m.. 3 p. m., and 7 p. m. His three o'clock sermon will be to men only. Every man in reach of Glenwood ought to hear that sermon. The people of Easley have a great opportunity to hear these two great preachers. Land Sale.
