M. 0. A., Columbia, S. C., October 9th. Dr. Z. T. Cody of Greenville was elected chairman pnd Rev. J. W. Guy secretary of the meeting. After a full and free discus si6n by repre sentative men from different parts of the State, it was unanim6usly agreed to 1;unch a movement for State de prohibition. A committee sisting of the following gen riwas appointed to further A for conferences, conven ns, .d a thorough organiza tioi of thehple State: Dr. C. E. Burts, chairnm p; J. L. Har ey, D. W. Robinso, Dr. D. M. rosson, and J. W. GuY. It was also decided to etition he legislature to pass' an act roviding for an ele ion on tate-wide prohibitio to be eld under the same laws gov rning general elections, not later .than Tuesday, April 28, 1914. It was the sense of the con vention that .4he prohibition question, being entirely a moral question, should be kept entirel y &#arate from politics and there fore that the election should be held before the summer cam paign of 1914 begins. It is the purpose and desire of the prohibitionists that this question be settled by the white voters of the'State and we have no intention or desire of organ izing a new party or affiliating with'any third party organiza Easley News Everybody come to the Fali Mr. and Mrs. M. He had been sick for Aome time, but was nqt consid ered dangerously ill until Satur day morning, when he suddenly was taken worse and the end came in a few hours. May God bless the family in their hour of grief. The infant of Mr. and Mis. Will Alexander died Sunday morning and'was buried Mon day at Ruhamah. Mr. Dennis Craig and wife of Florida are visitinr Mr. Craig's mother this week. 0. L. Gantt, of Tifton, Ga., has returned to Liberty a-nd ac cepted a position with J. .J. Gautt & Co. On last Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. W. B. Glenn. the ladies of the Presby terian church gave a royal re ception to the delegates who were here attending the Ladies' Missionary Union. Mr. J. R. Black went to Greenville last week for an op eration,'which we hope will be the means of his recovery. Dr. Quincy Edens, of Clear water, Kansas, is a visit to his parents, Mr.' and Mrs. A. K. Edens near Pickens. Dr. Edens is a native of this county but went West several years ago, where he has been very success ful,accumulating good property. Mr. Berryhill, who lives a few miles above here, lost a fine mare here last Friday. lie s hitched her near Mr. Garrett's blacksmith shop. She became frightened, pulled back, broke the halter, and fell upon an iron Sistob.1 -The iron penetrated the lungs, and Mr. Berryhili got a someone to kill her. It is thought t by some that some little boys with sling shots must have -struck the animal with a shot ' and caused her to break loose. The town authorities ought to n look af ter the sling shot business. Mrs. N. S. Moseley,'of near Pickens, spent several days last I week with her daughter, Mrs.' Z. T. Tate, in Spartanburg. Mr. J. L. Stansell. who lives several miles above here, tells us that this past year seventeen ] rattlesnakes were killed on his farm. The snakes were from , two to four feet l6ng.
