Indications at this 'writ ing are that people from every nook and corner of the State 'will crowd the fair grounds by thousands and it is expected - that attendance records will set a new high water mark at the gathering this year. The Pickens County Singimi Association held its semi-annua meeting last Saturday and Sun day with Mountain View churce The Conyontion was the great est success In the history of th Association. There were ian3 splendid leaders and the clas singing was the best ever hear( in this county. The Conven tion was splendidly entertainec by the good people of the Moun tain View section both days, an( there were more good things t( oat than one often sees. Or Sunday there were at least 150( people present, yet after all ha( eaten the good sisters had muel: to take up and put back in theii baskets. The crowd was order. ly and all enjoyed the occasion, his was truly the greatesi neeting of its kind ever held -i the county. The place of next meeting wmc not announced but will be later, Tie officers of the Association feel very grateful to the good people of Mountain View church and that section for their iospi tality. Fair at Easley October 23-2 The Directors- of the Picker County Agricultural and Mi chanical Association met in th City Hall, by call of Presider -W. W. Robinson, at 4:80 o'cloc p. i., Oct. 3d, 1913. The following committees fc the Fair Association to be liel Oct. 23 and 24 were appointec Committee on Live Stock-J B. Jameson, chairman; W. I Sitton and H. C. Hagood. CommittEo on Agricultur Implements-W. D. Spearmar chairman; A. L. Campbell, W L. Pickens. Committee on Agricultura Products -J. Milton King, J, T Lathem, W. A. Hamilton. Committee on Music-W. W Robinson, Dr. H. E. Russell. On motion of Dr. R. F. Smith seconded by W. D. Spearman City Council was made a com mittee on arrangements foi speakers and place for speaking during the fair, and any othe: entertainments that in Coucil'i judgment would contribute t< the interest of the fair. It was moved and carried tha the schools be requested to giv a parade Friday afternoon oi the fair. Committee on Domestic Sci ence-Mrs. J. A. Jones, Mrs. J L. Camp, Miss Gladys Smith. It was moved and carried that the chairman of each commit tee, with the chairman of th. Association, secure judges foi each department,of the fair. Was moved and carried tha the chairman of the Association with the chairmen of the differ ent committees prepare a gen eral program for the fair. It was ; greed by meeting, that J. T. Lathem, mayor of tht city, make an address of wel come on the day of opening of the fair, and that Mr. W. C. Smith deliver an address on the purpose and intention for which The Pickens County Agricul tural & Mechanical Association was organized, also the purpose of holding the fair. Furman played their first game Saturday and were defeated by Riverside Military Acade ny 7 to- 6, altho they made a fine 'showing.
