New Orleans. Sept. 18.-Search was
being made tonight for train wreckers
believed to have caused the death of
ten persons and the Injury of thirty
others, by derailing Queen and Cres
eent train No. 2, at :i a m. today at
Livingston, Ala. Bloodhounds late to.
day failed to pick up a trail. Some of
thc injured, taken to Merdinn, Miss.,
hospitals, are In a serious condition
and the death toll of the wreck may
bo increased.

that the switch was thrown against
the train, that the switch light was
out and that tho oil tank of thc light

The train, composed of aix sleep

president of the out li Carolina divis
ion of tho Southern Cotton Congress,
has issued the following call:
"I hereby call a meeting of the
South Carolitid division of the South
ern Cotton Congress to meet at the
Jefferson hotel in Columbia, 8 p. m.
Thursday. September 24. The presi
dent of each county is asked to bc
present and in event he cannot come,
tie is asked to name an alternate to
represent him.
Those counties not having an organ
ization are urged to send a represent
ative, as we hope that each of thc 14
coontie in South Carolina will be rep
resented. We shall be glad to lia vi

meetings arc open to the public and
any one interested in the cotton situ
ation ia invited to bo present.
