Justice Has
, Many Trick?.
Tho court', of Anderson see some of
tho most amusing incidents ever heard
of. A few days ago a man was arraign
ed before a magistrate on a charge of
stealing a coat and demanded a trial
by a Jury and when he was convicted
by a Jury and sentenced to pay a fine
of $1.00 he did not have the money.
The Jury then made up the dollar and
paid bis fine*. Yesterday the feme man
lind a wrangle with , his son, during
which the son struck him and the boy
was then lodged in Jail on a charge of
assault and battery. Lato in the af
ternoon tho man succeeded in finding
a bondsman for his son and got him
out of Jail. All of which show that
Justice moves in a mysterious way,
her wonders to/perform.
Was Much Ado
About Nothing.
' A story 'was going tho rounds in
Anderson yesterday to 'thc effect that
a man kidnapped two children in this
city Friday night. Later lt dc
, veloped that Sheriff Ashley had been
able to -straighten thc matter out
within a few minutes after it took
place. It seems that a man was to
take two small children out into the
Country fer a visit to their grandpa
rents and after ho took some several
drinks cf u mixture called liquor, but
really made of cylinder oil, ho went to
a house and secured two children and
started for the country. Ile managed
to get the wrong children and was
mighty glad to offer an apology and
got away wtih that.

Tomi vii le Is
To Lose Paster.
The people of Townsville, and es
pecially the Baptisty. of that place are
mocli pained over the fact that Rev.
jw. B. .Hawkins, the pastor of the
Townville Baptist church, has. tender
ed his resignation to take effect tho
latter part of the year. During Mr.
Hawkins' stay In Townville he has
boen able to accomplish a great deal.
A protracted meeting is now going on
at this church, in which Rev." J..
W. Nelson of Rock Hill ls assisting
the pastor and large crowds are at
tending the services.
?Only One Question /
Before the Publie.
Only one question waa before Ute
public of Anderson county yesterday
oed that was politics. If a man did
not want to talk politics he either had
to stay at homo or keep his month
shut while out cn the streets because
someone was continually near walt
ing to pounce upon the flrst one daring
to open his mouth to mention the po
ll tl cal situation. Interest, ran high
yesterday and the county candidates
and state candidates had things their
way here.

I Back From

One of the most J .?cnlal camping
parties that Ander ea baa ever sent

yesterday. The party was coposed of
Mr. and Mrs.' Bond Anderson, Mr.
and Mrs. Bud Raysor and Mr. and
Mr?. James N. Pearman and they
have been spending a week on the
Tugaloo river. They say that the!

time from the Drat day they landed st
the camp until they broke up Ute par

To Say,"Good-Bye."
i It ls understood that a movement is
on foot In Anderson to have the can*
non removed from ita position In tho
middle of Main ntreet to some other lo
cation/ It ls pointed out that the can
non interferes seriously with traffic
along Main street and that it would
be a great convenience to tho traveling
public if ll were, moved. Porter A.
Whaley has taken thc matter up with
tho local chapter of tho Daughters of
thc American Revolution, and has
secured their consent, and ia now fig
ur?n g with the city of Arid orson on se
curing another location.

Political interest ran high around j
Anderson yesterday, iu fact more in- |
terest was evinced than has yet been .
8e?:ii here. One candidate walked up
to a party and told them that ne would j
like to show them why he should be |
elected to a certain olflco and all the j
people in thc party .were so stirred up
that they replied, "We don't need any |
oof to tell ?B how to vote, go on about
your business and leave UB alone."
This is pretty rough stuff to even try
out on a candidate.
Spring Has
Uren Deepened.
The North Anderson Development
[Company yesterday, completed some
work on one ot its prettiest springs,
which makes the place far more at
tractive than lt was before. They!
found that they bad built, the rock,!
work around the spring too high, so'
they have had thc rock lowered, and
> as a result tho spring how ha? a splen
did flow? The water is exceptionally
dine and cold water and hundreds of I
people Btop there every day.

Picnic Parties
Enjoying Life,
Tho picnic parties making excur
sions from Anderson to near-by
j points every day and every evening
are certainly enjoying lifo. A large
j party of Anderson people went to Wil
liamston Friday night for a picnic at
beautiful Wi ll bunston Mineral Springs
I and they had one of the most delightful
I evenings of the summer, according to
thc stories they told yesterday. A
number of Blmllar events are planned
I for next wcok.
j Candida ten MuBt
File Their Accounts?
Every candidate running for any [
I county office should not neglect the
very important matter of filing his
expense account James N .Pearman

I and lt ls important that every candl
