of Anderson that the betting was get

next festival will be a much larger
event in every way than was the first

chamber of commerce have already

greater festival for next year. Tho

Anderson farmers when they learn

Anderson tor the festival. This was

a representative of the company. This
gentleman said that the company was
well pleased indeed with tho results
of the exhibit sent to Willlamston for
the'Farmers' Chautauqua and ho be
lieves, that still oetter results may bo
secured from sending a moro elabo
rate ' display to this city next year
for the grain festival.

speakers.' The meeting was called to
order at' 10 o'clock and'before'dinner
tho candidates for commissioner and
those for the house of representatives
ahd finished, their addresses. Follow
ing the dinner, the regular schedule
waa taken up and completed in the
afternoon.

mill tonight at 7 o'clock and then the
county campaign .will .come to a close

last addresses in the Court house Sat

Williamston mills was said to be thc

scored one of Hie biggest successes
(hut the community has ever partici
pated in when the animal picnic was
livid in connection with the Farmers'
Institute. People returning to An
derson last night said that they bad
never attended a more enjoyable ev
ent nor bad .they ever seen things
managed in better style.
The Anlreville sction is so located
that any Hiing held there naturally at
tracts people from Anderson, Green
wood and Abbeville counties and yes
terday people from all these counties
were present as well as from other
sections of thc State.
The picnic dinner was a decided
feature and the Anderdon delegation1
praised the people or AntreviUe to the
skies for their ability lo furnish a
dinner as good as may be found.
Sum Wakefield was master of cere
monies and handled the program for
the day :u a business Uko way. He
kept the interest of the large crowd
aroused and was very active through
out the day.
When the time was reached for thc
Fanners' Institute program to be be
gun the speakers had the crowd in
terested and every lecturer Was given
very close attention. The first speak
er to be introduced waa C. C. New
man of the department of horticulture
of Clemson college. He delivered a
splendid address' on fruit growing and
measures to bc used In treating fruit
diseases.
Prof. H.- W. Darre professor of
botany at Clemson college, spoke
on the disease; of cotton. He discuss
ed eradication methods and outlined
plans for eliminating diseases in cot -
ton and thc best method to handle thc
boll weevil, which ia now traversing
in this direction.
Miss Carrie II ?te, of Columbia,
State superintendent of rural schools,
made a charming address In which
she discussed thc girls' clubs and thc
domestic sciencp work.
Prof. W. It. Elliot of the Coast
station at Summerville, statu demon
stration agent, discussed the subject
of cover cro"B and soil building,
