Cotton Goods

markets were quiet and sa?;/ ter tho
day. Yarns were weak with linens
Arm, Burlaps held very steady, head
ing lines of staplo.;goods will be pric

tens?n.
The drop in cotton values has lind a
weakening effect on colton goods and
yarns. Trading wa? limited all thc
week by the unwllinguess of buyers
to operate at any reasonable price.
Offerings of goods from second hunds
were common enough but no market
could be found for them in any broau
way. Western markets have contin
ued to buy steadily in small quanti
ties for quick shipment and distribu
tion there seems much better than in
any other section. Owing to the groat
strain upon credits and tho closer
examinations of dry goods paper by
nil banking factors, forward opera
tions have been discouraged. Busi
ness is hoing confined strictly to the
most urgent needs and where forward
