J. P. YOUNG DIED
HERE LAST NIGHT
One of Oldest Citizen in City of
Anderson Succnmbed at the
Age of 88
J. P. Young, probably the oldest
man in tbe city of Anderson and one
of the best known men In t:>o county,
died lost night at his homo ic this
city. 230 Broyiea street. Mr. Young
was 88 years of ago and bad been
livtlng In Anderson for the last 25
years.
He becamo ill last November and
took to his bed and from that time lt
was seen that he would never recover.
He made a wonderful fight, but .his
advanced years made it impossible
for him to rally and be gradually grow
weaker.
Mr. Young was a native of Lown
desvllle. in Abbeville county. Ho ls
survived by his wife and two children.
Mrs. G. E. Brown of Birmingham. Ala.,
sud C. F. Young of Boonesville, Misa.
Both the son and daughter are now
en route to Anderson to attend the
funeral, which will probably take

South Carolina State Press Associa
tion, and whim the special train ar
rives here at 1:45 this afternoon there
will doubtless be a goodly number of
Anderson Ians pi vent to greet them

of the civic association can prepare

contemplated this dinner at Buena
Vista park, but it was Anally decided
