Funny Nigas
In Anderson.
There are a number of signs In An
derson to attract attention. There I
are many really pretty signs In the |
city and then again there are a num
ber of ludicrous ones. - For Instance,
there are several places In the c!ty
where men have two signs and the
name Is spelled In two different ways.
Ono of the most laughable signs In
the city appea?Hi on the window of
a vacant atoi ?a tor day. The store
had moved next obr and half of this
sign had been erased and there was
also an advertisement of a basketball
game with half of it erased. The re
mainder read: "The Girl's Basket
ball Teanv?Has Moved .Next Door."
I The Bailey Cadets
IMxappolnted Town. .
Considerable disappointment was
caused In Anderson yesterday by the
failure of Bailey Military Institute
boys to arrtvo here. It had been un
derstood from a Bailey official socio
time ago that the cadets would come
to Anderson Monday and Tuesday and
spend those two days here and. when
the .bataillon passed Belton without
coming over to Anderson the Ander
son people wore disappointed. It is
hot known Just. why the plans of the
military school were changed. An
derson would have been glad of the
opportunity to welcome the "brass
button" boys.
Train Clave
Up the Ghent.
Did you ever hear of a train be
coming disgusted because It got a
few minutes behind time? That is
exactly what happened last 8unday
morning, according to ihr ???? ?c?C ?y
a visitor from Sparenburg. The
young man trum the "City of Distress"
said that be Intended leaving on a
train at 7:40 and when he presented
himself at the locaj,.station he found
that ? the, train was late. ' He waited
until It did arrive and then asked the
conductor, it he would make connec
tion In Greenville with a Southern
railway train. "Well, no."'replied the
conductor, "we are already -40 minutes
behind time so we JuBt won't go back
this morning; We will stop . here.?
Whother or not,this actually happen
ed, may be a question but the Spar
tanbttrg man says that he will swear
to it and certain it Is that he did
finally go on another line. This is
probably the first base on record of
a train losing heart and giviug up be*
cause It wu Jess than an hour Wfej
