- It may not be a record for the State
but Sheriff Ashley certainly made a
record for Anderson county yesterday
when he rounded up twenty offendern
in Pelzer and Bel ton and brought them
to the Anderson county jail. About
halt of these are negroes while the
remainder are white men and there
are only two charges?selling liquor
and gambling*. The Sheriff and his
deputies have been busy tor the past
few days in securing ?vidence in va
rious cases and yesterday they were!
ready to act. They secured the war- ;
rants and hit the trail for Pelzer and
Bclton with the result that the Ander-i
son county Jail was entertaining more (
guests last night than foi' some time, |
it was impossible' to obtain last
night a complete list of all, the charges 1

of Anderson' from the State of South
Carolina. This is the share due this
city from the'sum collected from the

When asked last night as to what
