From the general reports the meetings of- the clubs werp harmonious and In some j but little interest woe taken*. No Hues were drawn in the city and men wcrf> seat to the county convention ' regardless of affiliations, it is said. Some time ago an appeal was made for all counties in the state to send instructed delegsfions to the state j convention. From a superficial read ing of the names of the Relegates pub lished, we would say "that the com plexion of the county convention here j will be very much as it was two years ago. We hope that the convention this year will follow the ssge advice I of-abe county chairman two years ago, j which was disregarded, and have no I steam rollers/ or lines of cleavage or anything of that kind, but select from the body of citizenship of the county a? represented at the convention, .the j best men to stand for the best- county I in the state. The convention two years ago fol lowed the visit of one of the candi date? for governor who had made se- j rions chargea against the governor | of the state wbo was offering'for re election, and the feeling at the -time ] waa somewhat acute. As a result there waa a misunderstanding on ac Jcount of rumors, wblcb canned a so IrlQua breach in the parly. We trust that the mistakes made then, by both ?aides, -will Serve to prove that men on lopposite aides are not subjects of sus picion and distrust, but to shows that we are all citizens of a splendid coun ty, one whoso record and history ls something of which we ought to be proud, and that in the approaching vent hui the dominant nntn ?trill HA moderation, toleration and a desire to find a common ground of patriotism upon whlcb alt mses may meet. Let's have no give and take, as if we were people of different countries but let up seek first the good of the old county, and in doing ao look for men who wt i tn honor and fearlessly ge tbe duties entrusted to There may be serious ques ta be discussed, and these should rattled outside of any conatdera of personalities. * 1K<P n& HIVE RA AERA IA. Por several reasons this strikes us as a most worthy sugges tion. In the first place is the personal side of the question. We know of no member of the order in the state, with its 1.200 members, who could more worthily fill the place. In the second place. Mr. Allen is the representative of the traveling men of Anderson, a busy, honest, high-toned lot of meo, and Anderson has never been complimented with this position. We understand that Anderson, Colum bia, Greenville, Spartan burg and per haps some of the other urger poets of the Ptste have endorsed Mr. Allen.* I He 1H not seeking the honor, but we hope that lt will run him down and fasten Itself upon bim. He bas been president of Post D of this city for a year, and the membership has in creased to 217 within that time. The T. P.
