Well Known Theatrical Man Made !
Anderson People Two Splen

The outlook ?'i, . Anderson's new
theatre la deci*Jly brighter, and!
more roBeate this morning than it
haa ever been befpri; since the agita
tion for en amusement ula^e for An
derson was first started. Thin is du?
to the visit of 8. A. Lynch, a well
known theatrical man, owning and
operating a string of theatres throng!
out the Southern States. Mr. Lynch
told a reporter for The Intelligencer
hint nlgbt that everything he saw In
Anderson impressed him favorably
and thai he was surprised at the bus
tie and activity of the city.
Porter A. Whaley, Secretary of the
Anderson Chamber of Commerce, went
to Asheville, N. ^.-'Thursday to con
fer with Mr. Lynch and some* of his
associates In regard to the local theat
rldel undertaking anj) .Mr. Lynch was
so favorably Impressed that he de
cided to come ta i Anderson to look
over the field and see conditions for
hitmeif. He arrived in the city last
night at six o'clock, and a!>or4ly there
after a meeting of 'the board or di
rectors of the Chamber of Commerce
was called.
The various phases of the situation
were oonslflered'-and discuased by the
! memberh. of the,,bcrvrd' and Mr. Lyhtfli
' and the, matter gone into thoroughly.
THe 'tltt-Btfteai fudh made the local
people two propositions, one that he
would buy out their entire holdings
in the company1 and operate, the
theatre on his own independent, basts
or. tliat he would .assume the manage
ment of the place with a lease for a
ieor tahi tionalderaJsbnu Both of ? these
propositions carried the -understand
ing, that Anderson would be put on
the same circuit as Asheville, N. C,
Columbia, Charleston and Macon, Ga.,
assuring Andersonv of attractions
equally as good as any making the
Southern trip during- the year.
While no definite action was taken
last night on either o?. the proposi
tions made by. Mr. Lynch; it was- vn
dcrtUood last night that they were both
regarded with favor by.-Ca? Ander
son men and- that, in all probability
one of the. tWo would be accepted.

that, be would like '

paying undertaking.
Kb left Anderson this morning at
alx o'clock for Jacksonville but said
that he would be back herb within the
ten days, at) Which time it is
'that the deal con be consum
mated and preliminary preparations
for, the erection of_ the theatre be
