VEXING QUESTION ALMOST SETTLED Representative Hail Agrees To Replace Important Bill on House Calendar ?Uv a unanimous vote the house or representatives of South Carolina yesterday agreed to restore the An derson abutting property bill to the calendar and thia assures the bill of going to a third reading, which in this case will practically amount to an assurance of ita passage. This action yesterday wus taken by the house at Representative Hall's re quest The delegation of Anderson busi ness men who went from ?hi? city Monday uigTu, namely: Lee G. Hoi le m?n, C. M. McClure, Porter A. Wha ley, M. M. Mattison, \V. L. Brisaey, W. A. Hudgens, William Banks, T. Prank Watkins, Ti. B. Gossett R. C. McKinney and K. P Smith, apepared yesterday morning at nine o'clock in the agriculture committee room of the house and beid a joint session with tho Anderson delegation, the entire delegation being present. After dis cussing the bill for some time, in all Ra various phases, it was decided by the member of the house who had the bill withdrawn, Representative Hall, that he would have it replaced on the calendar. He stated, however, that he would insist on one amend ment being added and this was agreed to. Thia amendment will say that the . cuesti?n must be submitted to be people of Anderson atty for their vote, after tho constitutional amend ment has been voted on throughout the State. The plea of the local delegation was presented in an able manner by T. Frank Watkins and Kurtz Smith, these gentlemen acting as spokesmen ' for the party. ? The other bill, which related to sf) good reade mond issue for tne coun ty, was not touched upon by the lo cal delegation yesterday. They de termined that they would leave this pant of legislation entirely in the hands of the Anderson representa tives, but more especially In the care ot Representative Josh Ashley. When the new Hague waa first proposed the "calamity howler" waa decidedly on the Job* and instated that auch a proposition was out ot the question; that the people living in thc towns that wodli, constitute the member ship ot the league had already lost enough money on baseball; that the fans were unwilling to risk any more more coin on a baseball proposition and that in short the entire country had" gone to the dogs" aa far aa any baseball proposition ta concerned However these ptople nave at last been silenced and the general opin ion now seems to be that if any one town will start the ball to rolling, other towns will drop In Une and the coming summer will see some real, first-class, Ure baseball* in the Geor gia and Carolina towna. In Qrec^;:Jle the fans are "rearing to go" and say that they will be ready when the flag drop?. In other towns they are usually aa anxious for the league aa ie seen by the following paragraph from Spartanburg; Baseball enthusiasm ia being aroused in Spartanburg over a aix clty league, composed ot Spartanburg, Greenville, Anderson. Columbia, Au gust and either Sumter or Athena The fans here are desirous of seeing such a circuit organised, but the dis astrous financial experience ot those who backed a team in the Carolina association makes them hesitate about sinking their money in anoir-r tt_r> ball scheme; However, the large mass of the citizens favor the pro posed league, and plana ara now mak ing to ?tart a campaign to secare enough financial becking to nut a winning team in the field should the ?cheme for the formation of a six city circuit carry ing and Siding Materi 1 Modem Progress demands more end better buildings.
