There .was a pleasing variety in the
recital of Mme Van der Veer (Mrs.
Heed Miller) and Mr. Reed Miller,
which took place last evening in
Aeolian Hall.
Both these singers nre able artists
and were received In n hearty man
nor. At the beginning and at the end
of the programme were placed duets,
the firstuoing Bach's "Wohl mir,
Jesus 1st gefunden," and at the close
"A book of Versos", (Omar Khayyam),
by Hancock. They were sung in fin
ished stylo, and the voices blended
well at all times.
.Mr. Mller's first group of solos in
cluded two songs by Brahms "Bots
j cnatt" and "immer leiser wird mein |
Schlummer,". Tho quality of his voice i
was excellent. Mmo. Van der Veer
sang a group of songs by Handel,
Debussy, Franck and I'luier, the last
named composer being ropresented-by
two works new to New York, "Wald
Bei'gkeif sh?? "Glaubesur." Tiicy
were worthy of a hearing, and Mme.
Van der Veer's singing in "Waldae
HgkeiL" was pcrhapB the best 01 the
evening.
TTThe iwo singers were hparn again
in songs In English, of which Mr. Mil
