this means it made a much more di
rect trip to Elberton, shortening the

in the hope that those boys who ore

The school opened last night in the
splendid quarters' of Cecil's Businoss
school with an enrollment of 18. The
students say that so far as they are
concerned the joint facts of the school
opening on the 13th of the month and
the enrollment reaching the 18 mark
will prove to more of an omen of
good luck than it will ill-fortune.
Prof. Riser, principal of tho Ander
son High School, has active charge of
the work and thin instructor is going
to leave nothing undone that'can be
done to make the school a success. He

It is planned to hold.two sessions
of the night school each week, one on
Tuesday and one on Thursday night
and the school will open promptly at

The books of the County Treasurer
will be opened for the collection of
State, County and School taxes for the
fiscal year, 1913, and Commutation
Road taxes for the fiscal year 1914, at
tue Treasurer's office from Oct. i5th
to December 31st, 1913. After Decem
ber ? 1st; one per cent penalty will be
added; after January Slst, two1 per
cent penalty will be added and after
February 28th seven per cent penalty
will be added till the 15th day of
March, 1914, when the books will be
closed.

than one township or school district,

and 60 years, except those incapable
of earning a support from being
maimed or other causes, and those

States, to pay a noil tax of one dollar.

to work the rublio roads, or cause
them to be worked, except preachers
