Tlmt that was the position he had always occupies and was the one j ho occupied to-day. Mr. Gary moved to lay the resolution on the table, and called for a constitutional vote, which resulted as follows : yes 1342 ; no 2399. The tollers on the primary election reported as follows: (see tabulated statement.) Mr. lionet said he had expected to be a candidate upon tho the primary, but had never expected to opposo Judge Cuthran if ihe election should be by convention. He therefore asked the Convention to support Mr. White's resolution. Mr. White withdrew his call for a constitutional vote on the adoption of the resolution. The resolution was thon adopted by a viva voce vote. Mr. W. P. Calhoun moved to fix the 2nd primary for Friday, Sept. 3rd. Mr. Graydon moved to amend by fixing Sturday, Sept. 4th. The amendment was adopted, and the 2nd primary was ordered to bo held on Saturday, 4th September. The next business in order was the oleation of twelve delegates to the Congressional Convention to be held at Seneca on September 1st The following gentlemen were elected: J. N. King received 3257, 11. 11. Hemphill 3188. I. H. McCalla 3001, L. C. Haskell 2982. W. P. Wideinan 2198, J. H. Latimer 2890, W. H. Parker 2688, T. F. fliley 2698, S. C. Cason 2285, J, Ei.Todd 2203, L. I 1 have just heard that only ninety of our people "excurted" to Anderson yesterday. The protracted meeting in the Methodist chtfrch closed last Wednesday night with good results. About fifteen joined the church?a few were converted and j the church revived. Some of our people are preparing for, and sowing turnip seed. A good time, if the hot snn does not kill the young turnips. Mr. D. L. Barnes is now making arrangements to build a livery and sale stable at this placo. The meeting in the Presbyterian church closed on last Monday. The pastor, Rev. It. C. Ligon, was assisted by the Rev. J. O. Lindsay, who preachcd an able sermon on Sabbath, upon the Sacrament of the Lord's supper.
