W. VNJI^inkscaleb. ot^CMumittee. Bintoi? At Montorev, sTfC" Saturday, July 8,1888, to Mrs. Georg a W. Spoer a son. Dr. Goo. H. Waddell. Few men are better fitted for the Halls of the Legislature than Dr. Waddell. Of a well balanced mind, clear and firm convictions, and a man of s. thoughtful and studious habits, he seems to us well fitted to repre<i*?t u* ? in the House. As Supervisor of Kejiistration he has thoroughly mastered that intricate law, and understands it as well ~ as any man in the State. His duties as Supervisor will terminate before he assumes those of Legislator. Abbeville i- County will io honor to herselfin doing honor to Dr. Waddell. e Capt. J. N. Klujf. " There appears in this paper to-day the card cf Cupt. J. N. King, of Ninety-Six, as a candidate for County Commissioner. n For a good many years, Capt. King has had a great deal to do with the roads " and bridges in his section, and is thorr oughly familiar with the wants and needs of the Countv in that line. The " boys in Cow Grove say he don't hesitate I ' to jump in the water himself to fix a | 14 water rack. He will moke a good Commissioner. t e Capt. G. M. Mttttinon. ^ This old veteran is announced as a candidate for County Commissioner. He has served heretofore in the capacity nnn all thoughtful citizens know how a well he discharged his duty. As chair. man of the Board of County Commisr sioner in *78-'80 he did a great deal to work the county out of debt, and evinced the possession of financial i j talents of high order. We predict for i him triuphantelection. i . Mr. W. H. Whitlock. ! This gentleman is announced as a 1 1 candidate for County Commissioner. 1 He will he supported by a host of friends. Mr. Whitlock is a most excel- ] lent machinist, with a practical experience and knowledge of bridges &c. Dr. Coleman was pain- j] fully bruised about the head and tl shoulders. We are glad to hear that p his wounds are not considered danger- tl ous. S( It does not seem to be generally pi known, that Mr. Clarence Duscnbery, p; who keeps the cemetery at Long Cane n< is prepared to dig all graves. K It is thought the Abbeville delegation to the State Convention tnvor the nomination of Hon. John P. Richardson tor Governor. We are sorry to learn of the serious indisposition of Mr. T. A. Cuter, of Monterey, from eresipelas. We wish him a speedy recovery. Who would l*e so cruel so unnatural, as to refuse to huy one boltloof Shriner a Indian Vermifuge, when he knows that worms are destroying his child. This is no trilling matter. It would seem that the ''close season," for the killing of negroes has not commenced yet. On Sunday night, Henry Adams and Spencer Oothraii. both coloroed engaged in a fight, concerning the latter's wife. In the melee Henry Adams was cut in several places, from the effects of which he died on yesterday morning. Spencer has been lodged in jail. Cadet Ashby King, of the Maryland Military and Naval Academy, is in town on a visit to friehds. He is a son of Capt. J. N. King, of Ninety-Six, and is a young man of tine character and promise. His handsome appearance on our streets 1ms excited much comment. We risk nothing in venturing the assertion that Mr. King will do himself, his parents and his State credit at the Academy.
