The prohibition bills have been vir
tiially killed in the House. This gives

streets last work. The poor house is
the proper place for such person*.
The lawyers from here, who attended
the Bar Association report, that everything

Sunday was one of the most disagreeable

sermon of Rev. J. Lowrie Wilson at tho
Presbyterian Church. The serinou was

to hear this maw of God. Mr. Wilsoji
also preache-l at flight a very acceptable

villi' liar, is to he married to-day to Miss
Sallie (iihert, of Bordeaux. They leave

Captain John Cochran got one hand
right badly hurt in a gin, but Dr. Edwards

The bill to make emigrant agents pny
a license of $500, meets with univeral
favor with our people. It ought to be
one Aiousand dollars. These miserable
creatures ought to pay well for deluding
their victims as they do.
The jVetcs and Courier has been
quite complimentary to Capt. M. L,
Bonham recently. It alludes to niin as
'one of the distinguished editors of thr
State" at the recent State Fair and is
then very complimentary to him in acting
Solicitor in that trouble in Edgefield.

The large Ellis family had a splendid
re-union lust week at the old homestead.
Misses K. P. and B. T. and M.M. Kllifi
were present. The occasion was much
enjoyed, though tempered with sadneAs.
Prof. J. N. Young has received two
telegrams announcing the very low condition
of his daughter, Mrs. McHenry,
of Alabama. Mrs. Jane Young left immediately
for Alabama.
We heartily Becond the suggestion ol
our friend Mr. J. B. Bonner, of the A
It. Prevbyterian, that we have a Christmas
tree. Let us havo a nice one and
one on which every body in town will
be represented. We have not had one
in so long that it would be immensely
enjoyed.

' conscientious citizens who differ in
these views and are entitled to their
opinions, but why not submit this ques^
ticn to the people, the temperance men

spell-bound for two hours and

proper authorities, and to take the true

judge the matter.
