M. C. A. building have been on exhibition in the hall 'of the main building and have attracted much favorable com ment. Many students* ay that tho erection of this building will be the greatest thing that h&s been done at Clemson for a long time. The struc ture will bo situated just north of the Textile building and at tba eastern end of the new parade ground and athletic field. Professor R. E. Leo of Clemson is the architect. Dr. Winfield Scott Hall will lecture boro Monday under the auspices. of the Y. M. C. A. He is a specialist in ?cox hygiene of national reputation. He discusses many subjects of vital .interest to tho young. The Clemson cadet band gave a concert in the chapel Saturday^even- j lBg that was most cr?dit?t to and highly enjoyable. The band has made remarkable progress under the lead ership of Profound v.*. M. Routten, who is in charge of the woodwork division. In a declamation contest in the Pal metto Literary society with nine en tries, S.-C. Stribling and T. A. Clark were the winners Friday night. The Judges were . Professors Martin and Covington and Cadet P. IL Senn. D. E. Swinehart and W. E. Blake were tho winners in a similar contest in the Columbian society. The Calhoun society wiU hold its contest soon. Tho Haendel Recitative and Air from tho Opera Xerxes was particu larly on loy ed. the Voice blending beautifully with the tones of th'e vio lin obllgato plaved by Miss Smith. Two ct her most beautiful songs were the Tirlndelll "Absent" and "Sheri Von," by Kerch. She ls a thorough musician, her style being dramatic, but her voice is much, liked in lyric style. Her pianissimo effects are es pecially pleasing. Miss Smith, tho viol in is te has decid ed ability as n vi ol In IP te and she plays the plano equally well, though she did not give a plano number oh this pro gram. She is musical through and through.' She ia very gracious and charming before her audience and plays.in fine style with finished, well balanced Interpretation.
