BRAZIL DAVIS DEAD.
Brazil Davis, who lived near Bel
ton, died Friday afternoon after a
long illness. Mr. Davio was a good
Christian man?a consistent member
of tile Baptist church?a good and
generous neighbor?was one of tho
heroes of tho Confederate , array. He
wa? one of tho best soldiers in tbe
Confederate service. His commues
speak in highest terms of his bravery.
The deceased was 76 years old at tho
time of h in death. He leaves a heart
broken wife?no children were born
to this union. Rov. N. G. Wright, ol
Belton, conducted tho fuucrul service
Saturday arternonn in tho preaenco of
many sorrowing relatives and friends,
after which the interment took plnco
in Belton. cemetery.
Mr. Davis was a great sufferer and
hlu death was a relief to the physical
body aud a blessing to the soul w..ich
we have every reason to bclicvo is at
rost. He was wounded several times
while in the service for tho lost
cause, but he never murmured but
did his duty as a man and soldier.
Just a few more years and the last
call will be given the old soldiers and
many hearts will ache In every sec
tion of the beautiful Southland of
ours.
