A. Shaw ; One Plea of Guilty
(From Thursday's Daily.)
The jury last night was hopelessly
tied up on the case ot C. A. Shaw,
charged with obtaining money under
raise pretenses and there is little like
lihood that a verdict will have been
reached by the time. court convenes
this morning. The csse occupied iho
attention or the court throughout the
afternoon yesterday and went to the
jury shortly before court adjourned at
';30 o'clock. -'
P. s. Stegall. charged with disposing
or propery under raise pretenses,
was given a trial yesterday ?nd the
jury returned a vet diet of not guilty.
In the case of Habe Wlllfdnison.
charged with larceny, th? defendant
entered a plea bf guilty and was sen
tenced to serve fifteen months on the
county roads or in the -penitentiary
for a like period:
W. O. Moore was convicted on a
charge of selling liquor but r: ac
count pt the defendant's poor health,
the court suspended sentence so long
as Moore shall not be convicted iu
the state or municipal cdurts or the
?ame. charge.
The last case tried was that or
C. A. Shaw ano the judge instructed
that a scaled Verdict be'returned thia
morning. However, it is hot believed
that the jury win be ebie, to agree.
On account of the tact that the soli
citor's father was critically ill. the
court was adjourned yesterday after
noon at 4:30 o'clock.
