Please bear with us, while we )ress the subject upon your con sideration. It is one which our newspapers should continue to agitate, until the work is comple ted, at any rate. Now that a vote of the towns and townships are in order for subscriptions to the road, we )ropose that the citizens of Easley Township call a mass meet ing,. to be held in the interests of our Railroad, at this place on some day not in the distant future. Let all get together and talk over this grand scheme, and adopt such measures as will soon call for q large subscription. Oir Township should subscribe at the least fig ires, ten thousand dollars to thc construction of the road. The )eople are better able to give that amount now than they were to givt live thousand~ wheni the Air Line Roadl was built. This Town ship ini subscribing ten thousand1 dlollars, will greatly aid the build ing of the road. It will be to the TFownshiip a lasting enterprise, and one that will bring to our Town ship a thousand times the amount inivested in'it. The (County sub .scribedl one hundred thousand to the Air Lie'road, and without it where would we be to-day ? We would live in an isolated part of the world, only accessible by hack lines and private conveyances, and only visited by those generally, who through the force of necessity would be compelled to come. Our farmers would have to content themselves with selling their pro duce in a poor market, or hauling it for many miles to a better. The Air-Line has been of alnost in calculable value to our very pro gressive county and let us try to reap as much benefit from our new road as we have from the Air-Line. Will the citizens of the town ('all a mass ineeting? The columns of Tim I MESSENGER are .open for the purpose. FOR GOVERNOR. Col. W. H. Perry, State Senator from Greenville, has been brought forward as candidate for the next Governor, in the event that Gov. Thompson will not desire a re-elec tion. EXTRA TERM OF U. S. COURT. We see from "The Greenville News," that a term of the United States Court is called in Green ville, to be opened on the first Monday in February. -The "t Saluda Argus" has again changed hands. As editors, Messrs. W. K. Blake and T. F. Riley have resigned, and Mr. Ri ley has sold out the enterprise to Messrs. They sued him for it, and the jury found for the ward to the amount of what the confederate bonds were worth at the ime the investment was made.
