The People's Journal. LOCAL ITEMS. Last Monday was a keen, cool day. The Board of Control met last Tuesday. Saleday attracted quite a good crowd in town. J. T. Hitt has resigned as Sit porvisor of Easley Township. Melville Holder, lost a mule on the 1st inst. It was sheep loss. Robt. E. Knox, of the Stewart section, has moved to Piedmont. The dispensary sales for the month of December amounted to $417.10. Mr. W. H. McDaniel has a son very sick with what is thought, to be meningitis. The wife of Mr. Jerre Nations in the Prator's section is very sick. He buried his infant child last Sunday. The holidays' sales quite clean ed out the dispensary. It received a new stock, however, last Monday evening. Rev. J. E. Foster preached a most oloquout discourse at Secona last Sunday to a most attentive oongregation. Miss Margaret Welborn will teach tho school in Hagood Dis trict, No. 38, wh ich will open on the 20th instant. There was a leap year party given by the young ladies of Pick ons on now year's night at the resi donco of Maj. J. J. Lewis. Mr. J. D. Smith, an old and much respected citizen of Pendle ton, died on the 1st inst., and was buried on the day following. Rev. W. M. Harden preached his first sormon at this place Sunday in the Methodist church. In spite of the bad weather lie had a good attendance. Soo what McFall has to say. If any one man keeps abreast of the times it is he. He has added a new line to his budget and it will pay you to peruse it. Goorgo B. Looper buried an in fant last Saturday, the 4th inst. This is the third death that has occurred in Mr. Looper's family within three months. A. K. Park has something new to say to our poo ple this week. Welien in Greenville it will be to your interest to give him a call. Hie is in West End. Marriedl, on 5th inst., at the residlenco of Mrs. Martha Morgan, the brido's mother, Mrs. E. M. McNamiro to C. On January 5th, at the residence of Mrs. J. J. Robins, Mr. Joe Fen.. Icy was married to Miss Rosey Robins, M. F. Hester, N. P., of ficiiating. All of I'ickens county. 'Squire T. R. Mr. James Evans, of the Liber ty section, died very_ suddenly on. the 1st inst. Mr. Evans was -a worthy old gentleman and hi.s death caused much regret amor ig many friends. J. offici.-ting. A. R. Hunt, age 24 years, died JIan. 2d, of pneumonia, at S:imp soniville. He leaves a widow and one child. The funeral was holdl on the 3d1 at Dacusville. The deceas od1 was a member of the Met ho dist church at that place. He -was a son of J. Hunt. The Farmers Mutual Fire In. surance Co., met last Monday. J. M. Stowart tendered his resigna tion as president and B3. J. John ston wvas elected in his stead. it was decided to stir up the delin quents and duo process will at once be instituted against all such. The young people of Easley had a most delightful hop at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lathem's last Thursday night. Mr. Flavor laynes died at his home near Mount Carmel on the ith inst. He loavos a wif'o and many relatives to mourn his death. Ex-Raiding Deputy Marshal, Dr. Ensor, has gono into the drug business , in Columbii, having purchased Dr. Heinitsh's stock and fixtures. The bride is one of Anderson's most charming young ladies, and the groom is one of Olga's most succes~sful young farmers. Aftei many congratulations and good wishes the guests separated to meet on the day following at the residenco, of Rev. J1. E. Foster where at reception was given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Ho had in his employ one John S., whom he had advanced from cash boy to head clerk and who had for many years been attache of the store. Since his promotion John had several times asked for a raise in his sala ry, and each time his request had been grantedl.
