The_ Peole's Journal. LOCAL ITEMS. Miss Matthews, of Williamston, t visited Miss Carrie Wyatt this I week. t If th seaons continueso there will be an abundanco of corn made this yoar. Many are they who are now seek ing the shady brooks of the moun tains. Rev. J. E. Foster began a pro, k tracted meeting at Secona last Wednesday night. A splendid rain fell here last Sunday and revised and refreshed some drooping spirits. Mismes Marie H. Michol and Co cile M. Sellars, from Charleston, are at the Ambler House. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Griffin and children of Williamston vis- I ited relatives here this week. Born unto Mr. and Mrs. A. R. N. Folger, of Greenville, on tho 23rd ult., twins-a boy and girl. Mr. and Mrs. T. H-. Boggs and children, of Birmingham, Ala., are 1 on a visit to relatives and friends in the county. The Piedmont Association will convena with Flat Rock Baptist church today (Thursday.) A con. tingent will go from horo. The meeting closed at the Bap tist church Ist Thursday night. There were no accessiois but the nenibership greatly revived. There will be a Sunday Fchool celebration at Mount Bethel on August the 10th 1895. Everybody is invited to come and h6ring well filled baskets. d Dr. J. R. Riley mot his regular appointment hero last Sabbath ;an( preached two oxcellont sor mions. lHo announced that t the next. regular mooting, the 4tli Sub bath in August, the services would be protracted. Mrs. J. Swinton Whaley and c three children, of Edisto Islat d S. C.; Mrs. Martha S. Seabrook and Miss R. Black, of Charlestoii, S. C., and Mrs. W. E. Dickson and child, of Ocala, Fla., are at the Ambler House. Y Rev. T. J. Rooke mot his regu lar appointment at Enon last Salb bath. A large congregatiol wa s present and a collection amount ing to $2.55 was taken for Conme Maxwell Orphanage at Greenwood. Notice was given that a lprotracted meeting would begin there next Sabbath. '1The membersh ip of BethlIehem ,ehurch are requested to meet~ at .the grave yard, on niext Saturday morning, as soon as practicable, with wheelbarrows, hoes, shove's, .and other necessary tools, to clean cf the grave yard, and undergrowth around the church. Everybody that is interested come, and fail not. A protracted meetmng wvas begun in the Methodist church, at this place, last Tuesdafy mnorning, b~y Rev. 0. L. Nimnmons, one( of the soldest and most highly respeoctedl 1 'citizens of the county, died at his home~ on Eastaton last Saturday evening, at the advanced ago of 8'9 years. He was (luring his whole I 'life up to a few months ago a very healthy, stout and vigorous man. but since a few montihs ago hiisgen oral health has been failing until it entirely gave way. H is remains wvore buried at the family burying ground. A largo circle of relatives and friends are left to mourn h is .loss.
