Provo that your diplomas have boon earnod by evincing a willinigness to continue some mental exortion. It is not what you havo learned at school that is going to bonofit you; it is the disciplino through which you have passed, the powers which you have developed, and the attempts to uso them advantageously. Do not, at this early age, imagine that the clilafx is reached, and that your store of knowledge is su-fl cient to carry you through the world; that because you havo graduated at the head of your class you have accomplishod all thac. can be expected of you. You h ave really only made a beginning, and it is now that you are most suscep- U tiblo to improvemont. We do not propose to discuss the present political conditions in the State on the basis of last year's quarrels or conditions. Nor will we allow ourselves to be betrayed into a comparison of records and errors with the News, (emnpting as the challenge to such a compari son may be. The good people of the State, of both factions, are in earnest we believe in desiring to find or make some ground on which they can~ meet and act to gether for the p~urp~ose of tihe Coni stitutionial Conuvention, and we see no good to be gained by recalling old issues or differences, party or personal, or raising nlew ones, when .their efforts are sufficiently em barrassed already.
