HAS CAR LINE
I wish to explain to the people of
Conway and other places my connection
with the Conway-Marion jAuto
Line. When the Conway-Marion Line
was first established I was employed
to drive the bus on one of its trips.
Owing to circumstances not necessary
to repeat, I severed my connection
with the Company and put on private
cars on the line. Later seeing that the
Chamber of Commerce felt indebted
to the Company, as they had been active
iiT getting them to come down
here and put on the bus, I took the
cars off the line. A few months ago
when the Messrs. Bagnal offered me
the chance of buying tho bus line,
while considering it Mr. Harry Bray
approached me on the subject of purchasing
it on a fifty-fifty basis with
him, which I agreed to, and I also
agreed, at his suggestion, to let him
conduct the negotiations entirely by
himself. Having explicit confidence in
him, I was quite dumb-founded when
I learned that he had bargained for
the bus entirely for himself, quite forgetting
his offer of fifty-fifty with
me; and days passed by and he nevei
gave me any explanation whatever
and up to the present time he has not
so favored me with any; I decided that

ed also that the roads of South Carolina
weje as free to me as to him and
that I would figure with him on the
basis he handed to me.
So, consequently, I entered the
game on the line and I wish to say to
the people that 1 feel that I am not in
the wrong- in this matter, and appreciate
the kindness so many of the people
have shown me and thank them
kindly for their patronage and hope to
have their continued support.
I also feel that I should apologize
to the Town of Conway for the ungentlemanly
encounter I was forced
into last week I think if any one will
take the time to investigate they will
find that it was the first time my name
has ever been written in any court,
and that disorderly conduct is entirely
out of my line. Furthermore, I will
be glad to prove the truth of what I
have here stated.

STUNG BY FISH
B. T. Frierson of the Conway Tradjng
Company had an encounter with a
jellyfish while in bathing at Myrtle
Beach a few days ago. His arm came
in contact with the tentacles of the
figh and he was severely stung-. The
place became inflamed so that he had
jo carry the member in a sling- after
applying* the usual remedies and
bandages.
This sting- appears to be the only
weapon carried by the jellyfish now
infesting the waters of bathing places
more than usual.

CONDITION OF COTTON
"South Carolina cotton crop now |
hanging in the balances and next 30 |
days will register success or failure of
farmers to control the boll weevil,"
,snys B. B. Ilare, Agricultural Statistician
in South Carolina for the United
States Department of Agriculture.
According to Mr. Hare's report the
crop is very spotted. In somo sections
normal plant growth has been obtained
and prospects on July 25 were very
good, whereas in other sections, especially
central and northwestern counties,
plant is small and ciop backward.
Weevil control so far has been quite
successful, due largely to favorable
weather conditions and "everlasting
team work" on the farm. However,
rains have become more or less genei
al within the last week and the weevil
is appearing* in increasing' numbers.
With continued rains or cloudy weather
heavy damage will moat certainly
follow from weevil infestation, but
with fair weather and sunshine there
is yet a chance for a good crop, provided
farmers are as persistent in
fighting the weevil throughout the
month of August as they were in June
and July.

How To Stop
Habitual Constipation
Most Any Medicine Will Relieve
Temporarily. To Stop Entirely
Is Another Problem
Many people .have this disagreeable
thought woirying them daily. Purgatives
and laxatives prove to be fine
for a day but leave them worse off
than ever..
The secret of the success is in getting
at the seat of the trouble. A
live)- filled with impurities and poisons
can never be made to noi t'..im
properly. Cleanse it thoroughly for
once and the trouble is over. The
cleansing, however, cannot be done
over night, but must be dor.e systematically.
Here's the way:
Buy a 30c bottle of Dr. Hilton's Life
for the Liver and Kidneys No. 2.
Take 2 tablespoonsfuls the first night
and follow it with a smaller dose each,
succeeding night. You will find that
it will thoroughly cleanse the liver
and kidneys, strengthen them and
prepare them for normal function and
purify the blood. It is excellent also
for improving the appetite, Dyspepsia
,Indigestion, Nausea, Sick Headaches,
etc. If your druggist can't supply
you, write Murray Drug Co.,
Columbia, S. C., for a bottle.
