Watch the tobacco leaves and do not
gather them while they are too green.
Experience ought to teach the grower
when the leaf is in the right state of
development to gather and make the
highest grade of which it is capable.
Green leaves cannot be cured so as to
show the right color and texture in
the finished product.

There is nothing in this world that
is perfect. Men agree only to furnish
to others things that are of certain
qualities according to human standards
of judgment and measure. They
do not guarantee that any article they
offer is perfect, or if they do undertake
to make such a guarantee, the
whole world knows that it is false.

Judging by the rapid rate at which

law and cutting up stills, there will be
a heavy crop of whiskey cases to be
disposed of at the Fall term of the
court of general sessions in uonway.

Sandy oak ridges seem to make the
best tobacco lands in Horry County.
There was a time when the owner of
such land failed to appreciate the value
of it as it never turned out good
crops of corn or sweet potatoes, and it
was hard to raise a fine crop of cotton
on it. At the present time this land is
worth more than it has ever been for i
the reason that it is food for raising |
a high grade tobacco leaf.
*
The tobacco crop that gets the best
attention throughout the making and
selling of it will be apt to bring the
grower the very most that it is worth
on the market. Nothing is of more
value in the tobacco business than
keeping the product in good condition
and giving it the closest attention
from the time of planting the bed to
the day that it is placed on the market
for sale.
