The road to Myrtle Peach was
greatly improved last week by drag-i;
ring following the vain. The middle of i
last week found this road in good con-|
dition all of the way to the beach with;,
exception of a short distance just beyond
the bridge where the force had
been making a new fill and trying to
.uct this packed down so as to make \
two ?ets cf ruts at that place while ,
the new earth was rather soft.

What was the object of the negro,
George Arline, when he made a habit
of slipping round different homes in
Conway running over a period of sever;.!
weeks? His object must have
been to steal. The only article he was
ever known to have was when lie was
caucrht at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
W. R. Salmon, and on that occasion he
had a cut-glass vase in his hand and

and will collect them and turn the papers

[lone.
o
THEY ARE PROGRESSIVE
The Quattlebav.m Light & Ice Company
are interested in the rapid development
of Conway and they realize
that Conway should sell more than a
rull share of the big tobacco crop that
is being produced and matured for the
season which is now at hand.
They are asking the farmers of
Horry to sell at their own home market.

A message came through Conway
last Wednesday night from Mrs. C. S.
Howell, wanting to get in touch with
Dr. C. S. Howell who was spending
a vacation at one of the seaside resorts.
Mrs. Howell had passed through
Conway on the afternoon before on
her way home in Marion. The message
was to the effect*that Mrs. Howell
had been injured in an av'*nobile
accident while on the way to Marion,
after leaving Conway, and stated that
while she was not seriously injured,
she was in need of the presence of Dr.
Howell.

half page advertisement telling of

W. J. SMITH BACK
W. J. Smith spent several days in
Florence last week with his son, Leon
Smith who went over for an operation
for tonsils.
Smith returned with his son fully
recovered by the middle of the week.
The operation is said to have been
very successful.
W. J. Smith is the livest newsdealer
in this section of South Carolina. He
gives his patrons a service of which
they should be proud. From time to
time he is greatly improving his service
and extending his work in scope.
He says that he has seen Florence but
he is not impressed, and that it is
Conway for him, first last and forever.

HATES A COURT
Some people hate the idea of the
courts because it is in the courts that
men contend the one with the other,
and both sides lose out in time and
money, when if both sides to the controversy
were willing to do half-way
riu-ht, there would be no need of a
suit.

WITH FAIR SHOW
Conn-av will come back as a tobacco
market this year if given a fair show.
It is to be regretted that there has
bee;i no organized effort to get the
tobacco brought to the Conway market
to be sold on the Conway warehouse
floors.
The farmers of Horry County will
carry their tobacco to the place the
most convenient for them, all other
things being equal. Organized efforts
to build a market count more than|
anything else in awakening interest in
the home market.

WORN NERVES
Nervous troubles, with backache,
dizzy spells, queer pains and irregular
kidneys, give reason to suspect kidney
weakness and to try the remedy that
lias helped your neighbors. Ask your
neighbors!
Mrs. D. W. Harrison, 35 Elm St.,
Conway, says: "I had terrible backache
that made me feel so sore 1
didn't know what was the matter. I
was nervous and couldn't do my
housework. I got dizzy spells and had
to hold onto something for fear T
would fall. Black specks came before
my eyes and this frightened me. My
kidneys did'nt act right at aP and I
was in bad condition. I used Doan's
Kidney Pills and one box of Doan's
cured me of my misery."
(Statement given January 31, 1918.)
On January 21>th, 1928, Mrs. Harrison
said: "I have used Doan's Kidney
Pills several times since 1 recommended
them in 1018, and they have always
helped me. I gladly endorse
the former statement about the good
merits of Doan's."
