WAREHOUSE MAY
STILL BE SOLD
It was recently stated in The Horry
Herald that the Farmers Brick Warehouse.
in I.oris, was not to he sold to
the Tobacco Association on account
of a defect in the title which had been
found to exist.
This sfems to have been an error
in some respects, as while the sale to
the association has been held up on
account of a defect in the title, efforts
are still being- made to get the defect
coirected and the title perfected soj
that it will be approved by the association.
The attorney investigating the title
for the association is carrying out
plans now which he thinks will make
the title acceptable.
When the de:.l for 4he warehouse is
closed r will mem that two of the
warehouses at l.oris will bo run on
the aucMon plan while the other two
will oper ito on the co-operative plan.
Thus the tobacco business at l.oris
will \ e run about half one way and
the remainder on the other plan.

HAS COTTON BLOOMING
The offices of :he Horry Herald received
an open cotton blossom last
Monday from the farm of A. P. Johnson
near Conway. He says that he
has had open blossoms for the past
week.

The Horry Herald wants to fi 11 the
place of county newspaper efficiently
and to the entire satisfaction of the
people of the county. It is not satisfied
unless it can produce a nice panel*.

The paper is not making* any money
on the investment and has not ma<Ye
any in a long time. It takes all the
income to pay for the labor and the i
overhead expense that has to he incurred
in producing the paper from
week to week. It stands to reason
that each of the present subscribers
of the paper can ask his neighbors to
join 4he family of readers and in this
way increase the income of the paper
to such an extent that it could be

NEW COUNTY AGENTS
Olemson College.?O. E. Baker has
been appointed farm demonstration
a cent for Marion county and J. H.
Harvey for Berkeley county, according
to announcement of Director W.
W. I ovig, of the Extension Service,
and they to?>k up their duties on June
15th.
Mr. Baker, the new agent for Marion,
is a native of South Carolina and
a graduate of Clem son College, who
has hnd several years' experience in
agricultuva1 work, having taught agriculture
under the Smith-Hughes law
in the Tim*r?onsvil!e high school and
in the Kimrstree high school. He

similar work in North Carolina. His
headquarters will be in Marion.
Mr. Harvey, a native of Berkeley

headquarters are at Pinopolis.

BCTTS-FUGLEMAN
Much interest is felt, not only in
South Carolina, but in adjoining
states, in the announcement of the
marriage of Miss Virginia Sprott
Betts and Koss Lee Fogleman of
Greensboro, N. C., which took place
Thursday afternoon at three o'clock
at the Methodist parsonage with Dr.
J. C. Atkinson officiating.
The wedding music vfas played by
Miss Irma Lewis, a member of the
bride's Sunday school class.
The ring ceremony was performed
in the living room before an improvised
altar of banked ferns. Yellow
and white cut flowers and potted
plants were used throughout the lower
floor which was thrown in suite.
Punch was served in tlie dining room
by Miss Bessie Dusenbury.
The bride was lovely in a traveling
suit of beige with accessories to
match. Her bouquet was a shower
corsage of brides roses and valley
lilies.
Immediately af or the ceremony Mr.
and Mrs. Foreman left for a trip to
Washington and other points of interest.
After July 15th they will he
a" home in Greensboro. N. C.
The bride is a graduate of Andrew
college and is possessed of a charmin
yr personality which has endeared
her to a host of friends. She is a
daughter of Rev. W. A. Betts of the
South Carolina Conference, who is
now temporarily residing1 in Texas.
She is a sister of Dr. A. D. Retts
pastor of the Methodist church in
Beaufort. S. C.
Mr. Fogleman is a young business
man nf sterling qualities. Ho is engaged
in the real estate business in
Greensboro.
The quests included only clo^e
'Yiends and thn tenth grade of the
Burroughs High School and the
bride's Sunday school class. The out
of town guests were Miss Sara Betts
of Danville. Va., Miss Coline Tallen of
Lynchburg, S. C. and Miss Nell Jones
of Nichols.

HAS BEEN SOLD
Out on the Dog RlufT road in Conway
township is a machine for running
a ground saw mill, commonly
called a tractor steam engine. It has
been somewhat of trouble to former
owners of it and also to the man on
whoso land the machine was left when
the Ward-Bate Company ouit cutting
timber on the tract of land nearby
and did r.ot have any more in that
community that the company wanted
to cut.
It seemed to be a hard task to sell
the machine but at last this was aci
conmlished. the trade haviner boon
completed with the Marion Iron
Works some clays ago.
The manager of a lumber concern
in Wilmington, N. C., made several
trips to Conway to see ahout it. N Ainerous
deals were made which might
have resulted in disposing of it, but
they all came to nought, and the machine
still remained encumbering the
land where it had been placed for two
years, or longer.
Still the machine had not been moved
when the trade was completed recently.
but some new parts are being
made for it in Marion and as soon as
these have been finished they will be
' added to the outfit and then it will be
hauled away.

tomato plants last fall $02.00 worth
of tomatoes. These fellows could not

and cultivated and ha'vested in the
right way, there is money in the second
or fall crop of Irish potatoes,
Ask Wilkie Bros., of McCormick county.
These progressive young farmers
came up to us from North Carolina
and are setting the pace in Irish
potato growing at $2'per bushel.
It will be a shame to have a mar,
ket for 500 cars of sweet potatoes
next year and only one-fifth of this
