Mrs. Bowen Tells How Rats Almost
Burned Her House Down.

our cellar, fearing a rat. One night

last week was the musical given by
local talent at the town hall on Tuesday
evening as a benefit for the Presbyterian
manse. Miss Alexia Huntley
and L. t>. Magrath were the soloists
and were accompanied by S. M. Huntley'and
Mrs. Magrath. J. W. Bounier
gave several selections on the flute
i accompanied by Mrs. Bounier on the
1 piano. In addition to the musical

OBITUARY
The Death of Mrs. F. L. Jordan.
On February 13th, 1923, the death
anpel visited the home of Mr. F. L.
Jordan, and took from him his loving1
wife. Mrs. F. L. Jordan. She was a
Christian worker in the Second Baptist
church. Oh, how we miss her, no
tonirue can tell, but we expect to meet
her in that happy home above.
A precious one from us is fj;one,
The voice we love is still.
A place is vacant in our church,
Which never can be filled.
We love her, we love her,
But God loves her best,
And He has called her home,
To a place of rest.

MAKES GOOD RECORD
The basketball season for the league
known as "The Big Throe of Horry,"
has closed, leaving: the Mt. Olive
am tV-o "invincibles" champion in
boys' basketball.
At the beginning: of the season the
team was untrained, with the exception
of one player. The following
boys have played the entire season,
never losing- a jrame: Willie Lewis,
cnotain; Leroy Williamson and Leon
rmiMDs. torwarcis; Murray Hianton,
and Glettie Phillips, guards.
Their co-operative playing: won the I
. admiration of many. The school and '
community are justly proud of their |
record, and are wondering1 what pos- j
sibilities lie before those five boys? j
what splendid players they might be- j
come with a few more years' practice.

The day itself was ideal, crisp, cold
and bright with the rare warmth of
February's sunshine.
The home of the bride where the
ceremony took place, in the presence
of the immediate family, had been
simply and tastefully decorated for
the occasion. Green and yellow were
the colors, ferns and jonquils, thn
flowers; with here and there a touch
of the trailing ivy; n vine which lends
itself so beautifully to the hands of
the decorator.
As the guests assembled Miss Bes

The sweet tones of her voice were in
perfect harmony with the beauty and
solemnity of the hour.
Harry C. Mclnvail, Jr., the nephew
of the bride, was ringbearer, was lovely
in a suit of perfect white. A perfect
Cala lily, the thoughtful reminder
of the bride's mother, was selected
as the flower for the ring.
At the first strains of the bridal
chord from Lohengrin, little Nancy
Finley Goldfinch, the three-year-old
neice of the bride, dainty in a hand
made dress of white organdie, entered,
scattering yellow jonquils from the
beautiful basket.
The bride, carrying a shower bouquet
of brides* roses, and Lilies of the
Valley, entered with her mother, who
gave her in marriage. She was attractively
gowned in a co/it dress of
navy poiret twill with accessories of
beifre. (?)Her ornaments were a
string of pearls, a gift of the Hut Bible
class, and a platiifrn diamond
broach, the gift of the groom.
The mother of the bride was lovely
in a gown of gray, wearing a corsage
of purple violets and sweet peas.

Scurry, of Georgetown, S. C.
Mingling with the sweet strains of
"Traumerie," the quiet voice of the '
beloved pastor of the bride, Dr. J. C.
Atkinson, pronounced them man and
wife. The impressive ring service of
the Methodist Episcopal church, South
was used.
Immediately after the wedding
breakfast the bride and groom left for
a short trip south.
Mrs. Walsh, the younger daughter
of Mrs. Emma Goldfinch, of Conway,
possesses a charming personality,
which has won her many friends in
social and business circles.
Dr. Walsh is a popular young druggist
of Conway, highly esteemed for
his splendid business ability and his
