MAKES BIGGEST
GROWN PUMPKIN
It is a most enormous pumpkin
that measures five feet and three
inches in circumference. It is almost
past belief that "such a pumpkin"
con Id ever prow in the soil of
Ho rry County, if it were not for tha
reliability of the man who measured
the same after it was matured.
J. H. Bland is known to many
people in this county and his word
is not doubted. As he was passing
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Marti,,
1
VIII, IIV ill u VI V1WII Vllic^ IclM WtJiJKj I1G
was called in by Mrs. Martin to see
this giant pumpkin that has been
produced in their cornfield this year
and he was asked to tell the Horry
Herald about it. In order that h<
might tftiow the size of this pumpkin,
he took the length of the circumstance
of the pumpkin with i\
piece of twine to the Herald officc
where it was measured and found u
be five feet and three inches.
There were some other pumpkhis
produced from the same vine bin
nothing like the size of this giant.
Mr. Bland 4a w the pumpkin and
also the vine on which it grew.
