The Pastime Theater had a crowd
to see the moving picture based on
the story by Charles Dickens entitled,
"Our Mutual Friend." This
was shown at the theater last Monday
night and was thoroughly enjoyed
especially by those who have read
the book.
Some of the finest pictures ever
shown at the theater have been
founded upon such famous works of
fiction as this proved to be.

WAS DELAYED
At last accounts the new policeman
elected by the council had not
teen able to get to his new job, having
been delayed in winding up his
business affairs at Timmonsville
where he was filling a similar position
when elected to the job in Conway.
It was reported here last ween
that after loading his household effects
in a railroad car, it was found
to be so leaky that a new car had to
be obtained and this delayed him iri
getting away from Timmonsville.
POOL ROOM CASE
Cozy Johnson, nejrro keeper of a
pool room was tried before council
last Monday, for running his poo
room on Sunday morning, in violation
of the ordinance aga-inst exev
cising t^e ordinary call in t on Sunday.
He was fined in the sum of
three dollars, lie did not close h's
pool room on Saturdav night at midnight
but wont ahead as if Sundax
was an unknown quantity to him.
William Johnson, the keeper of a
restaurant was up before the council
at the same time. and was fined ir
the sum of five dollars.

CAMPAIGN MEETINGS
The candidates met at Green Se;
on last Monday, a crowd of sonularger
proportions than those which
have greeted them at some of the
apnointments.
The crowd was said to be smaller

On Tuesday the candidates address

in the county politics and in

LAKE CITY WORK
H. P. LitHe has the contract for the
erection of brick buildings in Lake
City for one of the leading firms of
that town. The building is fifty by
one hundred feet over all. The work
has already been commenced and will
be finished within ninety days.

Will Mishoe was arrested recently
and lodged in the county jail on
charge of non-support brought under
the law which makes it a misdemeanor
to fail to support a wife and children.
Until very recently Mishoe was engaged

Kverybody will be interested in the
election returns on next Tuesday
evening and night.
V. F. Piatt, of the Piatt Pharmacy
has made arrangements to display a
large board in front of the store, near
the entrance, on which the figures will
be plainly written white ink as
fast as the count is made and the
returns come in.
There will be plenty of refresh
meuts on hand in the store such /is
soda water, ice cream, candy, bevo,
milk shakes, and in short every delicacy
known to the soda water trade,
and don't forget that there wiii he a
full assortment of cigars and other
smokes as always carried at the stort.
A big crowd is expecled in town
tlint afternoon and night to see how

along. Come and be with the
