WHO WILL WRITE IT? ]
(
A history of Conway and Horry |
County would be interesting reading. (
Several sketches of the history of
the town, and perhaps one or two of
Horry County, have been attempted
within the last few years, and even
these, brief as they were, claimed
more than the ordinary attention
#iven a printed article.
We know several men in this county
who mifjrht write a history that
would be of some length.
ILL LAST WEEK
Edwn.rd W Harbison. who formerly
Hvpd in Florida, but who came
"back to his old home when his health
failed some time ago, was reported
very ill last week and his nephews
went over to see him.
o
ROT OF TOBACCO
One or two growers last week re-!
ported trouble in the tobacco crops
raised by them from what v. as
described as tobacco rot. About the
time the weed was ready to be cured
the leaves rotted away from the
stalks, and were lost. |
Trouble of this kind was reported '
from several farms in the Pee Dee
section of the county.
o
BUY THE BEST
Buy the tires that are advertised.
The man or the company, either, thot
undertakes to make a tire and offer
to uell it without advertising it, is
not the right man or the right company
to deal with. They are afraid
of their own product.
The best tires made today are the
tires that you see advertised in the
newspapers and magazines. They
are the only ones for you to trust in
potting out tire money.

To combat the weevils, the coton
growers need to plant an early

ariety of cotton that will come
long fast and mature before the

of being able to raise some coton
in spite of the weevils.

Much talk of one kind and another

At Nichols it was said that last

aid that he had a pile of tobacco

vas not satisfied with this price;

mother row and placed a new ticket
>n it and that this time the price
vas forty cents per pound. This
vould tend to show that there are
some buyers who fail to recognize

NEGRO MAN IS UP FOR
BEATING HIS WIFE
A negro man was up before the
town authorities last week charged
with slapping his wife.
His wife indicted him in the town
court because he slapped her in the
face, and inflicted a painful wound
just because she worked and paid
for the grub that she said she
brought home to feed him and herself;
that her husband objected to
her working for an honest living- but
expected her to bring the bacon home
without working for it, hence this
domestic trouble that occupied some
of the valuable time of Mayor
Magrath.
