a close last Saturday with a picnic.

Little Miss Virginia Proctor entertained
a number of friends last Thursday
afternoon from 1 to 6:30. The
occasion was the celebration of her
1th birthday. Ice cream and cake
were served. Small Japanese fans
were used as favors.

The tobacco co-operative meeting
.".t Loris last Wednesday turned out
to be the best attended of all three
that were held in the county.
About MOO growers gathered there
to hear what the Kentuckian had to
say about the success of co-operative
marketing; in his state.
It appears that much interest is
shown in the new plan in the Loris1
section of the county, and the meeting;
caused a good de.al of enthusiasm
to be awakened round there.

Inquiry at tlie courthouse shows
that the dog tax law situation is in
somewhat of :i muddle and that this
is all owing to the defects in tlie law
itself.
The comptroller general wrote to
Treasurer Barker that the time for
paying the dog taxes was e\tended
to September 1, ju<t as other taxes,
hut it appears that this was a mistake.
and the treasurer had already
advertised that the time would he out
on June 1.
None of the officials have seen a
j copy of the new law passed at tho
; last session of the Legislature. Ac

speakers on this program which is
already being put together. Some
of those on the program are Rev.
Gordon, Atkinson, Parker, Mr. QuatI
tlehaum and others from Conway,
Rev. West bury and Garrison from
Ay nor we also hone to have, and in
fact we hope to have every Minister
| and Sunday School Supt.. and as
many teachers there as possible.
This convention we believe will be the
best in' the history of the association
and we wan' you to begin now
to plan to be there.
Remember that it is a convention
for all the Sunday School workers of
the County. All denominations are
expected to be represented. See that
your School is well represented.
