Woodward returned from the hospital in Columbia, S. C., last Wednesday after undergoing a successful operation for a trouble caused by a diseased tonsil. Mrs. J. I). Dusenbury and Miss Maud Dusenbury were "at home" to their friends on last Friday, from six to seven o'clock in honor of the brideelect, Miss Ruth Spivey. * * * * * Dr. J. C. Atkinson arrived in town last Friday, after a stay of several days in Georgia, where he had been visiting his daughter. His many friends wore glad to have him return. * * * ? M. C. It was entitled "Peacock Alley" and the star, Mae Murray, was at her host. The theatre was packed with a crowd ot patrons and they were pleased with the show. It means that every back yard as- well as every front yard, every vacant lot and every alley and street of the town .must bo thoroughly cleaned up of all debris, waste paper, refuse, trash, grass rnd growing weeds. They aim to make the campaign effective and have it to apply to each and every citizen or dweller of the town. This clean-up campaign happens to come just before the vi^it of the Stac?5 Press Association. It is inpoitant this year more than ever that the job be done thoroughly and extensively. Conway is usually a clean and good looking place. When the editors of the state visit us we must make a special effort to gei results. Let all classes of the people come together now in this movement. o S. I*. HAWKS JR. HAS DELIGHTFUL PARTY On last Monday Mrs. S. P. Hawes gave a dinner party in honor of her son. S. P. Jr., the occasion being his twelfth birthday. The guests all went home with Jr. from school, so felt much in the no lion tor the toast that was set before them. After dinner they all went to tho ball diamond and there engaged in a lively game of baseball. Those attending were Henry Buck, Edgar Burroughs, James Pusenbury, Edgar Jorclin, \V. C.
