It it the custom of the State Department >f Kducation to furthor this work by encouraging; the organization of schools throughout the state and at the same time to concentrate work on some specific county. For three years concentrated work has been conductor) in Pickens county, and the results have been most uratifyinjr 'or Ph'kons founts now records, accordinir to 15*20 census, the least illiteracy in the -tato. With the co-operation of Superintendent Allen the State Department of Kducation hopes to do a similar niece of work in Horry county.
