to Farmers' Bulletin 1 liM. Operating a

The condition of the windows in a
building, whether tight, loose, or just
loose enough to rattle, plays a very
important part not only in the comfort
derived ficm a heating plant but
mort noticeably in the annual cost of
operation. Suitable metal weather
stripping frecuentlj reduced by 15 to
20 per cent the radiation required.
The prevention of window leakage
means a saving of heat and a lessening
of dirt blown into the house. In

a reasonable economy of fuel, but
smoke and dust were a nuisance.
Metal weather stripping was applied
before the next heating season, and
as a result the temperature of the
rooms was too high. The radiating
surface was reduced almost onefourth.

showed a noticeable reduction.
A fuel saving of 15 to 25 per cent

and doors with metal stripping.

business basis.
At the Atlanta meeting of the
American Farm Bureau Federation)
speakers discussed the marketing of
several very difficult products, but it
was interesting to see how all of theni
came back time after time to the same
fundamentals.
1. There must be "commodity marketing."
The growers of a single
product must unite and emplay a selling
organization wholly devoted to
the profitable selling of that product.
2. Along with effective selling must
go a modern system of storage or
warehousing, and accurate grading.
3. A sound system of financing
the marketing plan must be worked
out. Without such financing an orderly
and well-regulated selling of any
crop is impossible.
4. The farmer in connection with
his marketing system must have
bureaus of trained experts who will
collect information the world over relating
to the supply of and demand for
each particular farm product and so
help prevent glints.

Moser?who told the memoers ot the
American Farm Bureau the stirring
story of the campaign for co-operative
marketing of cotton in the South.
"Our first year finds these associations
doing a $50,000,000 for 100.000
members." Mr. Moser decared.
"and this is hut a beginning. Simply
because we can offer the cotton-buying
world cotton accurately graded
and stapled in largo quantities (if even
running lots, we can get the farmer
2 to 3 cents more a pound for his lint,
to say nothing of other advantages.
