month to month. Ho gives in tho arti- 1
do figures made up from actual experience
in tho keeping of cotton and
the total amount that is lost each
year in this way is .astonishing.
It has been noted that even the farshod
pnd herns in
which the cotton could he protected
actually leave several hales of "otton
out in the opon air and usually flat j
on the ground. Much of tho cotton
next to tho ground is entirely lost
when tho cotton is sold and losage to
the whole hale is always more than
tho planter seems to think it will he.
It is hoped that the cotton farmers
will read tho article in this week's
issue and got an idea of how they may
bo able to store their cotton under tho
state warehouse regulations on their |
farms. It is strange that farmer will j
invest his time and labor in the rais-|
inir of a bale of cotton and when it is!
ginned and taken hack home it is:
placed out in the opon and damaged
and lose in weight; when he could i
just as easily place it in a 'shed on I
boards and protect it from moisture.
