In Horry County there are a numbe: of farmers now filing applications for loans and in most of the cases they are being passed upon favorably. It will furnish the means to nianv for taking up old mortgage*on their farms which would br sold to pay the debts if this mone'1 *>ad not been nrovided for by the Federal Farm Loan net. C., Friday, October 7th and Saturday, October 8th, , commencing at 8 o'clock in the morning. The Countv Supt. of Education is urging every teacher who does not hold a first grade and all those who want to become teachers to take this examination. FIRE ALARM DRAWS CROWD The first fire alarm in Conway for many months occured last Mon- . day morning at about 11 o'clock, when an alarm was given by the power plant of a fire in a tenant house belonging to Jos. W. Holliday, near the Burroughs High School Building. The department turned out but the flames were easily extinguish ed without any damage to the property to amount to anything. COURT CONVENES I MONDAY MORN The court of General Sessions wiP convene next Monday morning with his Honor, Frank T?. Gary, as the presiding judpre. A number of ^ases T';ii<! over from the last term will doubtless come ur for trial. The jury list was published in r recent issue of this paper. There are a number of prisoners in the county jail, and the efforts of the solicitor will bo directed to clearing: the jail.
