Mnot AM flnt lll*. nvt v iov/U t w auv^v v w u day Following Day Florence, S. C., July 23.?A meeting ,of the tobacco interest of the state was held in the Court Hou-r at Florence, as a result of a number of markets having called up the secretary of the South Carolina Tobacco Association and urged him that in view of the utter dissatisfaction of the tobacco growers over the state that a meeting be arranged immediately. Several markets were then called and notified of the request of certain markets for a meeting and as a result some eight or ten markets were represented at this meeting. Some delegations brought in reports of such bad feelings in sections of the state against the present low prices, and it makes some of our citizenship feel apprehensive as to what might happen in some localities unless people are brought to understand fully all conditions. In many sections the feeling is very keen against the large tobacco interest. After full and frank discussions by farmers, bankers, warehousemen and business men in general from a number of leading markets in the state, the following resolutions were unanimously adopted, having been offered by Mr. E. C. t Epps of Kingstree: c Whereas, citizens representing various tobacco markets in South Caro- \, lina, called together in mass meet- n ing by the Secretary of the Tobac- |i co Association by request of certain f local markets for the purpose of dis- ? cussing the prevailing conditions of n thn uresent markets and the nrice* offered thereon, after due delibera c tion and thought do hereby resolve h and recommend the following suit- C gestions as the only practical means and methods whereby more uniform >i and more satisfactory prices may he t obtainod: t 1st.
