Memorial Day.
(A famous war poem of the latc
Lieut.-Col. John McCrea.?Pledge
by Dr. J. C. Atkinson.)
! ,
J j "IN FLANDERS FIELDS."
1 We are the Dead, Short days ugo
fA ) We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset
If , tflow,
I Loved, and were loved and now we
; lie
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe,
To you from failing hand, we throw
The torch, be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
"We shall not sleep, though poppies
grow
1m Flanders fields.
Pledire l?y J. C. Atkinson.
Dead! Nay, you live in Paradise,
y Translated through holy sacrifice.
['? Cradled in love your sacred dust
Sleeps?its Taps?majestic the hush,
Guarded by heavenly Sentries
In Flanders Fields.
From your failing, stainless hands,
we
Receive the torch of Liberty,
Forever wo shall hold it high,
To light the way from earth to sky.
IJreak faith! Sleep in deathless
glory,
While the poppies wave over you
Wo shall wat<"h hv 'til Reville
In Flanders Fields.
