Williams, the president of the Enterprise Brick Company, located at Aynor, S. C., has now accepted a position in the Farmers & Mechanics Bank at Florence. Conway Bargain House. * * * Alterations were started last week on the interior of the building next door to the store of F. C. Todd, and in connection with the other store fronting on 3rd Avenue. These stores will ?oon occupied by Dan H. Winstead in the furniture and undertaking business. The two stores will be connected in the rear and will together make a large floor space, larger by two or three times than the store now used by Mr. Winstead. * * * E. L. Westbury, a native Horryite, but who was engaged in the'mercan-J tile business in another county for a number of years, has moved back to this county and is now a citizen of Conway occupying the residence that he purchased at the sale of the W. R. Lewis estate. Little and will begin operating it within a few days. * * * * J. C. Spivey, of the Horry Land and Improvement Company, has repaired several cottages on Sixth and Seventh avenues. A well has been sunk near the residence of D. D. Marlow and can be used for water supply in case of fire. About thirty guests, invited to celebrate the first anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. IB. E. Sessions, were received in the ibeautifullv decorated hulls m-ul 1 lors. Both floors of the Ardmore I were thrown open to the quests, and | the gifts to the bride showed great ingenuity, as each gift was of paper, in some form. | First, the young people engaged in | a very difficult contest, the effort bej ing made to pin a heart in the proper | place on a pictured lady. This would | have been hard enough had the contestants not been blindfolded, for there was much discussion as to the proper place for a lady's heart! Some thinking it should be worn on the sleeve; others?well, not telling any secrets, one young lady tried to pin her heart on a young nan, but he dodged (was it the heart or the pin?) Miss Ella Sessions succeeded in placing the heart in the right place and received the first prize, a beautiful heart-shaped box of bon bons. Mrs. Cooper woii the booby. i A peanut was given to each guest, and upon being opened it was found that the young ladies' peanut shells 1 contained a slip of paper bearing the name of a state, while the young men found the capital cities in their shells. Th us partners were chosen, and the bride of a year brought in a beautiful wedding cake, which was cut amid much merriment. Mi<=s Lena Johnson received the slice containing the ring, while the dime fell to Mrs. Barrett, the thimble to Mrs. Sessions and the button fell on the plate. No old bachelor was present! Delicious ice cream and cake were served, after which, dancing and cards were indulged in until the lateness of the hour drove the guests home, with (heartiest congratulations and good i wsihes for the following year. o ? MRS. BURROUGHS ENTERTAINS. Mrs. A. M. Burroughs entertained nt- bridge Saturday afternoon, Feb. 12. After an interesting series of games the high score prize, a cut glass sandwich tray, was awarded Mrs. H. W. Ambrose. Mrs. L. D. Magrath cut the consolation, a cut glass vase. A delightful salad course in the valentine colors of red and green, was served. Those present were Mes dames M. G. Andersen, Mrs. H. W. Ambrose, Mrs. E. J. Sherwood, Mrs. John Coles, Mrs. M. W. Collins, Mrs. A. W. Barrett, Mrs. J. B. Elliott, Mrs C. J. Epps, Mrs. L. D. Magrath and Mrs. G. H. Palmer. o VALENTINE BRIDGE PARTY. A charming valentine bridge party was given by Mrs. J. B. Elliott Moriday afternon, Feb. 14. The attractive rooms were decorated in red hearts, and the mints served during the game were red and green. The same color scheme prevailed in a dainty salad course. The high score prize, a pretty piece of lingerie, was awarded Miss Bonham, Mrs. Ambrose cutting the consolation, a vase.
