Passes Resolution at Regular
Meeting Last Friday
Night.
Indicating its interest in the inland
waterway, the Conway Chamber
of Commerce at Friday night's meeting
passed the following resolution:
"Whereas, the Atlantic Deeper Waterway
Association, at its annual
meeting in Atlantic City in October,
passed the following resolution:
"Resolved, That the sections o ftho
intra-coastal waterway from tlic
Cape Fear River to Winyah Hay,
South Carolina, and thence following
the natural inside route to St. John's
River, Florida, as recommended by
the army engineers, are deserving of
more favorable consideration and
more'liberal appropriations by congress
than they have yet received,
and we recommend that this work be
vigorously prosecuted; and

presses the well founded belief of engineers
and of students of the transportation
problem;
"Now, therefore, He it resolved by
the Conway Chamber of Commerce
that we heartily approve and endorse
the project covered in the foregoing
resolution, and that we call upon our

their energies in support of this enterprise."

eleven O'clock in the forenoon on the

described personal property,
to wit: Two mules, one buggy,
twenty-five bushels of corn, seve
gallons of cane syrup and 4000
pounds of hay.
The mules are at Bayboro with
Arnold Bell and the crops are at the
"Dudley place near Bayboro.
Mules at Bayboro will bo sold first.

Herald Equipment Wiil Soon
Have an Important
Addition.
The Herald recently purchased in
Rochester, New York, a Hoe Cylinder
Press to be added to the plant of
this papqr and to he used principally
in the production of job work.
The Horry Herald has a Cranston
Drum Cylinder Press which prints
four pages of the Herald at one impression.
This new press will bo
enough to take two pages of the
Herald at one time and could print
two pages of a paper as large i\>eight
columns.
This press arrived in Conway by
freight last week and when the car
containing it was opened one of the
main castings was found to have
been broken in transit. After neg-o
tiations with the railroad company
for several days through Mr. J. T.
Mishoe, the Agent of the Company
here, it was agreed that the pres.*
be taken and the broken pait
sent to a competent machinist
and mended. The machinist
states that he can repair it so that
it will do as good work as ever although
it will be sometime before
tho press can be erected.
The purpose of this item is to Inform
the customers of the paper
that everything possible is being
done to take care of all the business
that they may choose to bring
to the office to be done. This addition
to the machinery must be up
and running as soon as it can be
done under the circumstances.
BUSINESS CHANGES.
II is stated that several moves will
be made by business firms about the
first of the new year. James Pappas
has rented the large building on the
corner of Main street and Third
avenue, now occupied by the large
stock of L. H. Burroughs, and it is
said that Mr. Pappas will establish
a more up-to-date cafe than his present
location will permit, while Mr.
Burroughs will move his present
stock of goods to a new location
about January 1st.
