and it took quick action and hard
work to keep the residence from
burning.
The fire caught in a closet of the,
residence and nearly all of Mrs.
Todd's clothing was burned up. The
alarm was given by the tolling of the
church bells and aid promptly arrived
from nearby residences or the entire
building1 would have likely been
lost.
It was about I o'clock when the
fire occured. The youngest child,!
Hamilton Todd, two years of age
during a few minutes when his
father was not watching him took
fire from the living room into the
closet adjoining and this is the cause'
of the fire as reported.
The Conway fire department responded
quickly after the alarm was
given and as soon as the boys could
be gathered. Prompt action on tlie
part of neighbors of Mr. and MrS.
Todd resulted in getting* the fire out
before the members of the department
arrived with the engine and
hose.

large lot of cement purchased by the

floors. For several weeks [ ast a portion
of the ceiling and inside wa'l ;

MORE PEP FOR
THE LAZY MIND
Frequently the Only Difference
Between the Genius
and the Duilard Lies in
the Condition of
the Body.
The brain itf not normally lazy.
Under normal conditions it function^
properly. Its work however, is directly
affected by the condition of
the body, especially of the alimentary
canal. Stop up the canal and
the stagnated poisons will pollute
the entire body. Fill the body with
poison and no organ can function
properly; much less the brain.
Clog" the system by allowing
chronic constipation and you are 1
neither fit for work or association.
Such troubles are common with
mankind. Irregular habits, i-ash appetites,
over-worked stomachs and
sluggish livers always decrease
the efficiency of man's brain.
One should always keep the system
cleansed. SarDraS, a scientific:
preparation of medicinal roots and
herbs, without alcohol, invigorates
the sluggish liver and kidneys,
soothes the irritated over-worked
stomach, oleanses the system and
strikes at the very root of the many
common and dangerous digestive
diseases. It will do what the comcom
laxative cannot.
A tablespoonful three times a day
before meals will set the system
right. An excellent tonic for liver. 1

SLOW ARRIVAL
NOW EXPLAINED
One of the troubles with receiving
of mail at the Conway office is now
fully explained. It was discovered
last week that the colored man who
has been employed as a carrier of the
bags from the postoffice to the train ,
md incoming bags from the train to j
the postoffice, had systematically rob
bed the mails for a long time. For
jome time goods ordered by parcel ,
,)ost, although insured, would refuse
0 turn up in time. ,
Last week the negro was caught ,
ltd lodged in the county jail on the
harge of stealing from the mail.
The checking by the postoffice in- !

packages missing. <
