TWO BAD MEN
ARE ARRESTED
H. N. Sessions went to Myrtle
Beach last Saturday night and arrest
ed Foster Bellamy and Joe Hardee,
two negro men who are said to
come from Tabor North Carolina. It
is reported that these negroes went
to Myrtle Beach drunk, or drinking,
that they went upon the hotel
premises and fired off pistols, and
practically took possession of the
place. A telephone message to the
authorities here resulted in their
arrest by Mr. Sessions. They were
lodged in jail to await a preliminary
hearing and will doubtless be tried
for whatever crimes they have committed,
at the next term of the
Court.

was not adopted in the
United States until 1901 or 1902.
Industrial and social changes
which have kept pace with the de.
velopment of the automobile during
the last 20 years are almost too
numerous to permit of more than a
general humming up, and even that
would be superalmost any viewpoint,
is the effect this development has
had upon national, state and municipal
highway improvement. In this
respect the automobile may bo said
to have "paid its way.." Under n<^
other system of so called direct taxation,
perhaps, has it been found
practicable and possible to assess
the benefits more directly to those
most benefited. The automobile
owner has paid the tax willingly,
and has had the pleasure in mo. t
money waft well and honestly devoted
to the purpose for which it was intended.
He has seen the western
and eastern coasts of the United
States, as well as fche Great Lakes
and the Gulf, brought closer together,
practically speaking, and the
playground and the wooded parks
placed within easy distance of t.h<*
school, the home, the office and tho
