operation plans to market the
South Carolina crop this year, several
thousand attractive pos
ters have been printed by the
South Carolina Tobacco Association,
for distribution anions the tobacc
growers of this section. These pos
ters will be distributed through the
Chambers of Commerce, banks,
county agents, by mail, and by tack
ing on trees, billboards, fences,
posts, and any other place where
the tobacco growers may use them
They carry the following message:
"Help the Tobacco Market.
"1st?By leaving your money in
your local bank. There is little
help to be had from the North or.
account of the money stringency, so
the local banks and local farmers
must hold up the. markets. If you
do not leave money in banks, market
is sure to fall seriously.
"2nd?Do not rush Tobaccos on

Recognizing the critical financial
condition of this section, and the
importance of the successful market
ing of the tobacco crop, two expert
organizers have been assigned to
this territory, to assist in the marketing
of the coming crop. Those
two men are from the Extension
Department of Clemson College.
They are assigned particularly to
the South Carolina Tobacco Asso
ciation. Thev have ostabiisnect
headquarters in Florence, whero
they may ho wachcd bv any growers,
or section, who desire their services.
Applications should he
made through tho Chamber of Commerce
to reach them.

stringency of the mcnoy market.

ON WARPATH AGAIN
Mexico City.?Monterey, capital of
the State of Neuvo Leon, was attacked
by Gen. Ireneo Villareal, according
to reports received by the
war office from Gen. M. Perez Trevino,
chief of military operations ;n
th.at State, and Gen. Arnulfo Gomez,
chief of operations in Tamaulipas.
Gen. Pablo Gonzales, former candidate
for the Mexican Presidency, is
said to have been responsible f^r
the attack on the citv. Gens. Trevino,
Gomez .and Porforio Gonzalez,
governor of Nuevo Leon, are taking
"necessary steps" against Pablo Con
zales, according to a war office
statement.

ment press bureau. Belief was expressed
that Gen. Villareal had not
attacked the city with any serious
intention of capturing it. but bad

Several days ago the department
received a car load of parts for the
17 Bernstein trucks allocated to the
counties of the state. This shipment
also came from the federal
government and added somewhere in
the neighborhood of $75,000 to the \j>
