rather than the effort to redress
wrongs, but how will tfe prevent

COMPLAINT ON LICENSE TAX.
There is complaint being made, by I
the management of the ' Pastime
Theater that the license tax of
$50.00 as imposed by the town coun
cil, is unreasonably high as compared
to the amount of business
that is done by the theater with the
amount of business done by other
concerns who pay less tax in proportion.
There appears to be s(,me

tax has been fixed unreasonably
high the inference would be that the

Can Take United Action
Where Needed (
The way to make the Tobacco
Association more effective in the
interest of the tobacco growers is
to increase its membership. It is
an Association composed of farm
| ers, business men, warehouse men,
Bankers and professional men.
They are all working together fo
try to aid the market and the officers
have studied the situation and
think that it is absolutely necessary
for the farmers to co-operate
this year by leaving- their money
in the banks as much as possible;
not for the reason That the banks
have but little money, but in order
to provide plenty of funds in the
bank, which may be used by tobacco
buyers, and others, when they
wish to obtain loans to finance
their business. If all the farmers,
tobacco and business men belonged
to the Association it would be
quite easy to get together on any
question. Last year the embargo
was lifted by means of the efforts
of this Association. There is no
