PICK MENRjpf
CURE CAREFULLY
This seems to be good advice ti
every tobacco planter in this county
just at this tipie. What is the use
in working hard all the spring, crop
ping and taking to the burn, with
hands all covered with the green
tobacco juice, and still come out at
the end of the season without ?nny
profit for all this truble. Pick
the leaves when ripe and just right,
then cure it according to good judgment
and handle carefully unlil it
is on the warehouse floor for sal?.
Don't go off and go to sleep and
leave it to cure in the bain by itself.
Stay with it.

MONDAY OBSERVED

Last Monday, July 5th, was oh

j the 4th of July is a legal ho'iriay;
| and by statute it is provided that
i when a leg'.d holiday happens to fall
1 on Sunday, the following Mon ay
1; shall be a legal holiday. These pio:
visions of the law were not well

j by all of our merchants to the effect
'< that, by agreement, ad of the places
of business would remain closed
; o.i Monday n honor of American Ir.'

The day was spent in various
, ways. Tluio were a number of fishj

Some went to Murro'/s Inlet and

TOWN HALL IMPROVEMENT
The work of remodeling the second
story of the Town Hall will begin
to resume. Momhora of th*? Pimm

over $500 for that purpose and have
appointed a committee to contract
for whatever alterations are needed.
The members of the committee are:
D. A. Spivey, chairman; W. A.

thought that amount of funds now
on han<f*will provide for whatever re

hoped to increase the amount of

other equipment.
STILL MORE BRICKS.
The pile of bricks on Col. D. A.)
Sruvey's lot next door to the Horry
